76 diesel is now at $6.60 a gallon in Sunnyvale. One station used to be cheaper but is now happily matching rising prices. The old 76 I used when living in Cupertino by the Steve Jobs house is now $7.30.

A lot of my work is prototyping new features. This is not production stuff, it’s all throw-away code to help determine scope and details for the real work. This time I deliberately hand-wrote a bunch, and did more editing and refactoring of generated code. I’m reaching the point where my threshold of “I’ll just do this myself” is rising. Even if it takes significantly longer it just helps me so much to keep my hand in the work.

“Live! is a live in-studio album by Fela Kuti's band Africa '70, with the addition of former Cream drummer Ginger Baker on two songs. It was released in 1971 by EMI in Africa and Europe and by Capitol/EMI in the United States and Canada. It was reissued on CD by Celluloid in 1987 and was reissued on CD in remastered form by Barclay with a bonus track from 1978. The album was recorded on July 25, 1971, at EMI Studios (now Abbey Road Studios) in London. The British-American rock band Wings was recording their album Wild Life at the same time in the adjacent studio. Baker travelled with Kuti into Africa in a Land Rover to learn about the continent's rhythms, as documented in Tony Palmer's film Ginger Baker in Africa (1971). The bonus track on the Barclay CD reissue features a 16-minute drum duet between Baker and Africa '70's drummer Tony Allen recorded at the 1978 Berlin Jazz Festival. The album is on Rolling Stone's list of the 50 greatest live albums of all time. More concretely, I mentioned using agents let see do things at work that were nearly impossible otherwise. But I was told I only FELT more productive because studies, etc. Apparently I just feel better because using agents is “fun.”

No. I am doing things in minutes that only experts could do before in hours. And I am not an expert. We’re fixing bugs that would have gone unfixed before. There’s no debate, there’s no need to “wait and see” if this is “more productive.” Bugs fixed. Crashes gone.

Only a fool thinks writing more code is “productive,” you can use agents to do more than crap out reams of code-shaped prose.

Apple officially switched the iPhone to USB-C with the iPhone 15 series, released in September 2023. “When Apple switched to USB-C, the company bought out an MV88+ model, but this relied on a cable connection and so lost the core benefit of the device. “ That’s two years! It’s not like USB-C was a secret. iPad Pro was 2018. EU mandate was end of 2024.
